63rd International Tuna Conference [ more info ]
5/21/2012 - 5/24/2012 - Lake Arrowhead, CA, USA - We will be there to chat about your project successes and challenges and take in the talks. We are especially looking forward to the presentation by Stephanie Snyder from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, this year's recipient of the Wildlife Computers Student Scholarship. Stephanie's presentation will be "Scratching the surface: what midwater processes can tell us about albacore movements."

The Wildlife Computers Student Scholarship is an annual award, covering the room, board, and registration fee for a student selected by the Tuna Conference Scientific Committee.

32nd Annual Symposium on Sea Turtle Biology and Conservation [ more info ]
3/11/2012 - 3/16/2012 - Huatulco, Oaxaxa, Mexico - Kevin Ng and Kevin Lay reported that the Huatulco symposium was a great experience. Kevin and Kevin presented a workshop on "Selecting and Attaching Appropriate Biotelemetry Tags to Answer Your Research Question" and lots of good information-sharing happened about research needs and wants and how Wildlife Computers can help.

We were also pleased to be able to support the work of the symposium by serving as a one of the sponsors of the event in addition to being an exhibitor.

Sand to Sea - Southeast Regional Sea Turtle Meeting [ more info ]
2/1/2012 - 2/4/2012 - Jekyll Island, GA, USA - We would say the very first ever Sand to Sea SE Regional Sea Turtle meeting in February was a rousing success! Wildlife Computers attended as one of the invited exhibitors. Melinda also presented at two "Satellite Tracking Technical Workshops," where she and other manufacturers discussed products, attachment techniques and answered questions from the audience.
19th Biennial Conference on the Biology of Marine Mammals [ more info ]
11/26/2011 - 12/2/2011 - Tampa, FL, USA - The theme for the biennial conference was "Cumulative effects of threats to marine mammals: Challenges to animals, scientists, and managers." We attended the conference this year, as we have every conference for the last couple of decades or so. Melinda, Ann, and Todd had a great time talking with researchers, listening to needs, and hearing about accomplishments and challenges.

We appreciate both the history and the exciting future of marine mammal research that is encouraged by the Society of Marine Mammalogy. This conference has always been a great place to connect, learn, and share information. To encourage and support the attendence of as many students as possible, which we believe is very important, we contributed to the Society for the student travel fund again for this biennium.

American Fisheries Society 141st Annual Meeting [ more info ]
9/4/2011 - 9/8/2011 - Seattle, WA, USA - This one was just across the lake from us, and we were excited to attend and meet with the Fisheries Society members and attendees to learn more about their tagging successes and challenges. The meeting theme this year was “New Frontiers in Fisheries Management and Ecology: Leading the Way in a Changing World.” Melinda said the event was well-attended, with lots of exciting activity and sharing of information.
