The MiniPAT incorporates our newest Cricket transmitter and controller on a single board. The tag features a high-rate radio beacon to aid in recovery of the tag, allowing access to 8 Mbytes of archival data. About 2/3 the size of the Mk10-PAT, its sensors include depth, temperature (fast-response thermistor), light level, and wet/dry.
The tag will provide new mixed layer temperature and time series data, as well as standard time-at-depth and time-at-temperature histograms, light-level curves for geolocation calculation, and transmitted status messages. These data will facilitate large-scale tracking, short-term mortality studies, and oceanographic details and behavior data, especially important for fisheries management.
The MiniPAT weighs 53g in air. The tag body measures approximately 115mm. The actual antenna length is approximately 170mm.
